Health Insurance Basics
Timing: New hires are eligible for health insurance coverage following 90 days of employment. You must submit your application for coverage no later than 30 days from your eligibility date. Otherwise, you’ll have to wait until open enrollment to get on the plan. You can cancel coverage at any time.  

Coverage: Your group coverage is a PPO plan with Aetna. As with any plan, you should be sure to use in-network providers. Otherwise you may end up paying much or all of the cost. (And we don’t want that to happen!) Emergency care is covered anywhere in the world.

You have two plans to choose between. Your contributions toward plan costs may depend on which plan you select.
  • The main plan is 4-07, and has a $1,000 deductible, and 80/20 coinsurance. There’s also a drug card, and office copay.
  • For an additional premium you can buy up to a plan with a $500 deductible, and 90/10 coinsurance (plan 2-07).

Cost:  As a benefit to you, the company contributes to the cost of your health insurance each month. The amount you contribute depends on how many family members you enroll on the plan, and will be deducted from your pay.
