We hate to give anyone bad news. And one of our least favorite situations is when we have to tell someone that - due to their pre-existing health conditions - they cannot get approved for health insurance coverage.
Of course, most people with pre-existing conditions CAN get coverage with us. But things like diabetes, past or current heart problems or cancer, can sometimes be a huge obstacle.
In some circumstances, people in this situation can get coverage through the Ohio Risk Pool. It's not available through agents like us. You have to go directly to the state for it. You also have to meet certain conditions, like being without coverage for six months. But if it's a fit for you, it could be a lifesaver.
